How does this work?
Students, Faculty and Staff are encouraged to post events that will benefit the entire UNO community to this calendar. Whether it is a student organization meeting or a departmental open-house, events posted to the system will be added to the calendar. The posting is not immediate (expect a 12 hour waiting period during the week) and will be posted once approved. The posting should contain a brief description of the event and contact information if there are questions regarding it.

I don't know what to say. What should I include in the description?
Communications 101 is the best way to answer this question - Always include the Who, What, When, Where, Why and How in your description. Think of what would be interesting to you if you were reading the description of the event. You can start with an inticing question (e.g. Ever wanted to provide community service and have fun at the same time?). You can also indicate what the person or event will provide for people that attend (e.g. - Attendees will have an opportunity to learn more about the Domino Stacking Club and the upcoming competitions we will be attending. Come join us for the fun).

What kind of event can be posted to www.events.uno.edu?
Any event (with a few exceptions) can be posted to the system. All members of the UNO community are encouraged to add their events and refer members and others to visit www.events.uno.edu to see what is happening in the UNO community. The events should be affiliated with the university in some way that they are an enrichment to the lives of students, faculty, staff and alumni of the institution. The event should also be pursuant with the rules and regulations of the University of New Orleans and the LSU Board of Supervisors. Any event that has explicit undertones (overt or covert) will not be posted. The UNO Division of Student Affairs and the Events Calendar Administrators reserve the right to deny any submission that does not meet the criteria listed above.

How do I change or delete an event
Please send an email to Leonard A. Williams and indicate which event should be deleted or changed and we will take of it for you.

Do I have to be affiliated with UNO to post an event?

You must be a student, faculty member, staff or alum to post events to the calendar. Employers or recruiters looking for applicants should contact the Office of Career Development to create a job posting or gather resumes. Corporate supported personal selling companies (MLM's and Network Marketing companies) are prohibited from posting event information to the www.events.uno.edu calendar (contact Career Development).

How far in advance may I post an event?

You can post an event anytime for any date in the future. The earlier you post an event, the better. The Events Calendar is also a great way for you to plan your events as you can see what may conflict with the event that you are planning.

Please also understand that www.events.uno.edu is NOT intended to "hawk" or advertise your event. You cannot post an event a month away and have it repeat on the calendar everyday. Those postings will be denied. If you do have an event that you want maximum participation at, then plan some "build-up" events like reserving a ticket desk in the UC or reserve a table at the Library Breezeway to promote your event. Each "build-up" event is a separate event and can be listed as such in the events calendar. You will also create more awareness about your event by keeping it in the UNO community's collective minds.

Do events have to be on campus to be posted?

Events do not have to be on campus for posting, though they do need to have some affiliation with a student organization, academic department or administrative unit. If events are off campus, please provide the address and a link to a map (such as on MapQuest.com). The easier it is to find your event, the more people will attend.

What events are prohibited from being posted?
We encourage all UNO organizations to post events and activities to the calendar understanding that the following events will not be posted:
- Events that are not open to the entire UNO community (please do not post "Member's Only" events)
- Events that have an alcohol related theme to the activity. Events serving alcohol must follow the University of New Orleans procedures for hosting those type events.
- Events that are titled with an explicit or racially inappropriate in name or sub-text.
- Events that are intended for employment recruiting for a private or public company

How long does it take for an event to become active?
The Event Calendar Administrators will activate events once they have been approved within 12 hours of submission. Your event will not be posted quickly if information is missing.
